Photo Essay

I read a quote by Bob Marley and it inspired me. "Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life your livin'?" I am constantly asking that question to myself. Am I happy with this life I'm living? I always try to live my life to the fullest and stay positive. Although these series of pictures don't necessarily show me doing an action, they do reveal me doing two things I do constantly- being free and happy or submerged in deep thought. For my slideshow, I split up the words of the quote to tie into my pictures. I'll give you the reasoning behind my placement & word choice
1st picture (Looking through the leaves)
"Open"
This photo was taken by my friend Sean during my senior year of high school. He's an aspiring photographer and we randomly decided to use natural elements in our high school for a "photo shoot" I feel that this picture really represents the word open because when you decide to open yourself to anything, it means looking at something in a new perspective. In this case, it's my life.
2nd picture (me driving my car)
"Your eyes"
This is a random picture my friend took while I was driving my car and although it doesn't seem like I'm wearing a top, I actually am (it's a tube top).I know you can't physically see my eyes because I'm wearing sunglasses, but I feel that this picture shows me looking (I mean how can I not be looking I'm driving) and I'm going somewhere, trying to discover the answer to the constant question I'm asking myself.
3rd picture(me on the mic)
"Look"
This picture was taken on 2007's New Year's Eve while I was doing a rendition of Britney Spears, "Hit Me Baby One More Time" in my friend's boyfriend's basement. Sometimes I think it takes you to look at yourself being ridiculous to grasp a better understanding of yourself.
4th picture (me crouching on the bench)
"Within"
This is my senior picture. When I look at this picture, there's such an intensity yet softness in my eyes. They say a way to a person's heart is through their eyes. I feel that when people stare at this picture, they can see something within me.
5th picture (me playing the djigeerido)
"Are you"
I completely butchered the name of the instrument but I really like this photo because I'm trying something new and it was a lot of fun. I can't give you a thought out explanation of why I placed it here, but I feel like it fits. It fits my story.
6th picture (finger on my chin picture)
"Satisfied"
This picture was taken in the TECH Center and I was trying to be "grown". But when I look at it, I feel because my finger is on my chin I'm questioning something in conjunction to my story.
7th picture (me in the studio)
"With the life"
This picture was taken in the WHIP Student Run Radio station studio during the broadcast of "Power Hour" which features myself and Johnny Archer. Being an on-air personality is my dream. My dream is a huge part of my life. It means a lot to me.
8th picture (me and the leaves)
"Your livin"
This is another picture snapped at my high school by my friend Sean. When I look at the picture, I look so free and happy. I placed the picture here because it answers the question Marley asks, "Are you satisfied with the life your livin'?" And that answer is yes.
Sorry this was long and maybe drawn out...but I hope my random pictures make some type of sense after reading this!
Enjoy!
